Lineage-Based Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a powerful practice that links breath and movement in a specific, sequential order. Originally taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Guruji) to his students in Mysore, India, Ashtanga has found its way across the globe, including here in the Seacoast. Over the years, students flocked to learn from Guruji and eventually shared their knowledge of the Ashtanga tradition with their own students. Parampara is a Sanskrit word that is often used to describe how knowledge is shared from teacher to student; some translate it as successive, one following the other, or repeated. The practice of Parampara is often credited for the way the teaching of yoga has been passed down for generations in an undiluted manner.

Jolie has studied directly with many of Pattabhi Jois’ original students, and was certified to teach by David Swenson and Shelley Washington.
